Circa 1500s Italy - Kingdom of Naples 1 Carlino Circulated Details Condition
This coin was found in my grandfather\'s estate. He was a pilot who served overseas during World War II. While overseas, he acquired many coins. While most of the coins were issued during the war years, he also acquired older coins, the oldest of which were Italian coins. This is the oldest coin found in his collection. My research revealed that it is a Carlino issued under the Kingdom of Naples in the 1500s. It is a thin silver coin. Probably not unlike many coins from that era, it is slightly bent in multiple places. It has also likely been cleaned at some time in the past. Though it appears to have a uniform gray patina in the pictures, it actually has a somewhat artificial brilliance. This is a very old coin!
