The 152 mm (6 inch) gun turrets of the battleship Petropavlovsk are the first artillery turret for medium-caliber artillery in the Russian fleet. They were designed and manufactured at the Obukhov Steel Foundry along with similar turrets for the battleships Poltava, Sevastopol, and Rostislav. The turrets were installed and tested on the battleship Petropavlovsk in 1898. As a result of firing tests, a large number of shortcomings in the gun loading and aiming systems were revealed. During the battleship’s service, the turrets were gradually restored to combat readiness by the battleship’s crew and served until the battleship’s destruction on March 31, 1904, on a Japanese mine during the Russo-Japanese War.
