A very popular accessory from the World War II era, a mid-century treasure. This fabulous vintage evening bag/reticule is In pristine condition with rows of alternating black and white/cream beads woven along the body and top edge rows. Forming the body of the purse, the beads are woven directly into the tightly stitched black crochet pattern in decorative bands. The beads are pre-strung onto the yarn before crafting and slid into place stitch-by-stitch as each row is worked. The bag includes a classic cinched drawstring closure accented with the distinct long fabric drawstring cords. The ends of each cord are finished with elegant, metallic cone-shaped tips. The bottom of the purse is lucite. Perfect for formal cocktail and holiday parties, collectors of vintage apparel. The purse is a FABULOUS example of a “RETICULE”. Used by women wearing gowns with “No Pockets” to carry essentials like coins, handkerchiefs, mirrors, smelling salts, rouge and favorite scent. Purse has no label which is typical of these purses in the 1950-1950s.
