Who is Bando Mitsugoro?was a prominent Kabuki actor during Japan\'s late Edo period.Recognized for his exceptional versatility, he excelled in tachiyaku (male hero/heroic warrior roles) and was celebrated for his crisp stage presence and expressive mie (stylized poses).Sharaku\'s most famous portrait of him depicts him in the role of Ishii Genzō gripping a sword in the May 1794 production of Hanaayame Bunroku Soga at the Miyako-za theater. The print, set against Sharaku\'s signature dark mica background, is considered a masterpiece of Japanese woodblock printing.
