Le Harenguier Wooden Sailing Ship Model – Restoration / Repair Project

Large and nicely detailed wooden model of Le Harenguier, representing a traditional French herring fishing vessel. This is an impressive display model featuring a shaped wooden hull, planked deck, multiple masts and spars, cloth sails, extensive string rigging, small wooden blocks and fittings, and its original wooden display stand.

Please note: This model has taken a fall and is being sold specifically as a restoration/project piece.

The wooden hull and much of the deck structure remain quite attractive, making this a potentially rewarding project for someone experienced with model ships or miniature restoration. There is considerable original rigging and hardware still present, which should also provide a useful reference when repairing and rerigging the vessel.

Damage includes a broken mast, displaced/loose rigging, detached and frayed sail areas, and other small areas requiring repair or reattachment. There is also a damaged/repaired-looking area on the exterior of the hull as shown in the photographs. Because of the complexity of the model, there may be additional small missing, broken, loose, or displaced pieces that I have not identified.

The model has not been repaired or restored following the fall. It is being offered essentially as found so that the next owner can determine the appropriate restoration.

A brass nameplate on the underside reads “LE HARENGUIER.” There is also a handwritten number on the underside; its significance is unknown.

This is not a ready-to-display model in its present condition. It is being offered to a model-ship enthusiast, restorer, or hobbyist who may enjoy bringing this handsome wooden vessel back to its former appearance.
