An authentic, beautifully preserved Order of Vittorio Veneto Knight’s Cross (Croce da Cavaliere dell'Ordine di Vittorio Veneto). This official military decoration was instituted by the Republic of Italy to honor surviving veterans of the Great War who had completed a minimum of six months of active combat service and were recipients of the War Merit Cross.
The design features a distinct cross-shaped medal struck in blackened bronze. The obverse center displays a raised WWI Italian "Adrian" style combat helmet set against a background of oak leaves, stamped with the number "98" to commemorate 1918, the final year of victory. The reverse features a central five-pointed star surrounded by the raised inscription: "ORDINE VITTORIO VENETO" flanked by oak leaf boughs on the cross arms.
The medal remains suspended from its original, vivid Italian tricolor silk ribbon featuring alternating stripes of green, white, red, and a central blue bar.
