Original World War I Imperial German Iron Cross, 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse). Iron core with silver-toned frame. Obverse (front) bears the \"W\" cypher, royal crown, and \"1914\" — the WWI award date under Kaiser Wilhelm II. Reverse (back) bears the \"FW\" cypher, crown, oak sprig, and \"1813\" — the year the Iron Cross was originally instituted by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia during the Napoleonic Wars. Suspension ring intact and moves freely. No ribbon included. From a family collection.
