Offered is a rare set of four original Official U.S. Navy photographs documenting the Japanese air attack on USS Yorktown (CV-10) during the April 29, 1944 raid on Truk, Caroline Islands.
These are vintage photographs with Official U.S. Navy Naval Photographic Center stamps and original typed captions on the reverse. The photographs are sequentially numbered USN 231205 through USN 231208, making this a desirable matching set.
The photographs show Japanese Nakajima B6N \"Jill\" torpedo bombers attacking USS Yorktown (CV-10), including dramatic images of aircraft flying through anti-aircraft fire, passing over the carrier, and one aircraft being shot down after its attack.
