Unique vintage Japanese hidden bar set disguised as a stack of four decorative leather-look books. The burgundy hinged faux-book cabinet opens to reveal a fitted velvet-lined interior containing an amber color glass decanter with matching stopper and four coordinating shot glasses.
The square decanter features a raised diamond/faceted pattern and retains its original “PASSED J.G.I.A.” sticker on the bottom, associated with vintage Japanese export glassware. The cabinet incorporates a wind-up music box mechanism that plays the hymn “How Great Thou Art” and is currently working.
Set includes the faux four-volume book cabinet, amber decanter with stopper, and four matching amber shot glasses. Decanter measures approximately 5” tall including stopper and about 4” across; glasses are approximately 2.5” tall and 1¼” diameter. Box is 8.75” wide x 6” high x 4.75” deep
Vintage condition with age-related wear to the faux-book cabinet and interior as shown. Glassware presents nicely; please review photos carefully for condition. A wonderful mid-century novelty barware/display piece and an unusually complete surviving set.
