Bennett, longtime senior editor of Ebony, examines race relations, the Black establishment, white liberalism and the Civil Rights-era struggle in a collection of essays written during a pivotal period in American history.
Interesting Kansas City provenance: this copy bears the original stamp of The Hub Bookstore, 2103 N. 5th St., Kansas City, Kansas, which advertised itself as “Specializing in Afro-American History and Literature.” See photographs.
The book also contains a period Ballantine advertisement for the newly authorized paperback editions of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age toning, cover rubbing/creasing and other normal wear consistent with a 1965 mass-market paperback. Binding appears intact. Please review all photographs closely for condition.
