Offered here is an exceptionally unusual Virgil Abloh collectible from 2020: a copy of Wallpaper* magazine that was personally cut in half and autographed by Virgil Abloh himself as part of his limited-edition cover project.
For the September 2020 issue of Wallpaper*, Virgil designed a minimalist cover featuring a dotted line and scissor graphic running across the magazine—literally inviting the reader to cut the publication in half. Virgil described the idea as a way of transforming the magazine from a simple two-dimensional publication into a physical object that required participation from its owne.
He then took the concept one step further.
Virgil personally cut and autographed only 184 copies, creating a special edition he called “2 for the Price of 1.” Proceeds from the original sale of these editions benefited the Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund.
This is one of those 184 examples.
The magazine has been physically divided into two pieces across its entire width. Virgil added his distinctive handwritten inscription/signature inside a large speech bubble on the rear Salvatore Ferragamo cover. The opposite side retains his intentionally minimal limited-edition cover design and printed scissor motif.
The issue also has a direct connection to Virgil’s work from the period, including coverage of Project Geländewagen, his collaboration with Mercedes-Benz chief design officer Gorden Wagener to reinterpret the Mercedes Abloh personally hand-cut and signed Wallpaper* magazine

Unlike a conventional signed magazine, the alteration itself is part of the work. Virgil took an existing mass-produced object, changed its physical form, signed it, and turned it into something much closer to a conceptual design piece.
Only 184 signed and personally cut examples were produced.
The exact example pictured is the item you will receive. Please review all photographs carefully for condition and the intentional cut through the magazine.
