Manufacturer: Louis Marx and Company Year: 1978 Item Number: No. 6135 Material: Hard plastic Size: Approximately 6 inches long Mechanism: Super Shot Racers used a pull-string or rip-cord mechanism to spin an internal flywheel, making the car shoot forward at high speed.
Late Marx Era Survival: Louis Marx and Company closed its U.S. operations in 1980. Because the Super Shot Racers line came out right at the end of the company\'s lifespan (late 1970s), production windows were shorter compared to earlier, more iconic Marx toys. High Casualty Rate: These toys were designed to be whipped across hard floors at high speeds. The plastic tabs, pull strings, internal flywheels, and exterior decals were frequently damaged during heavy play, leaving few surviving examples in pristine condition. The \"Chrome Vette\" Exception: While the standard plastic Corvette is hard to find, Marx also offered a super rare promotional chrome edition Super Shot Vette in 1979 via a mail-in offer. That specific version is exceptionally rare.
