Walter Popp was a prolific illustrator known for his work across various genres, including:Pulp Magazines He began his career creating illustrations for science fiction, western, and true crime pulp magazines in the 1940s and 1950s. He moved on to painting covers for numerous paperback books, including hard-boiled detective stories, gothic mysteries, and romance novels. During the 1950s and 1960s, he produced many covers and interior illustrations for magazines such as Male, Stag, and For Men Only, often featuring scenes of peril. Later in his career, he collaborated with his wife, Marie Popp, on a series of romantic fine art prints.
