Vintage Stanley No 50S Combination Multi Cutter Plane Boxed Sheffield England For Sale

This vintage Stanley No. 50S combination plane is in exceptionally good condition for its age and appears to have seen very little actual use.Made by Stanley Works (G.B.) Ltd, Sheffield, England, the No. 50S is a highly versatile multi-cutter combination plane. Different cutters can be fitted to produce a range of groove widths and moulded profiles, effectively allowing one plane to perform a number of different woodworking jobs.The condition of this example is particularly impressive. The working surfaces and components show very little obvious wear. There is some light tarnishing and surface rust in places from age and storage, but this appears to be atmospheric rather than the result of heavy use.A particularly nice feature is the original set of cutters, which are still stored separately in their purpose-made wooden Stanley holders with the original printed labels showing the different cutter widths and profiles.The original orange Stanley 50S cardboard box is also included and remains in very good condition for its age. It even retains its original shop price label showing £6.50.Please note that I have assembled the plane for the photographs as best I can. I am not familiar with this particular multi-cutter Stanley model and there were a couple of additional components remaining, so I cannot guarantee that I have configured it exactly as originally intended.
