Vintage Solid Brass Celestial Face Mask Sun Moon Stars Painted India 6\" For Sale

Striking vintage solid brass decorative face mask featuring an unusual split-face celestial design. One side is finished in a textured silvery-blue tone with painted stars, while the opposite side features a dark polished brass finish accented by a crescent moon and sweeping gold, copper and rust-colored details. Dramatic black eye surrounds and bright red lips complete the theatrical design.

The mask is cast in substantial solid brass and weighs approximately 2 pounds, giving this compact piece surprising weight and a wonderfully sculptural presence.

The reverse retains its original “SOLID BRASS – MADE IN INDIA” label. Based on closely comparable Indian decorative brass masks, this example is believed to date approximately to the 1970s–1980s. Similar pieces were produced as decorative wall masks during the later 20th century.

Its combination of celestial imagery and dramatic metallic finishes works especially well with Hollywood Regency, Bohemian, Global, Eclectic and Maximalist interiors. It would also make a distinctive addition to a collection of vintage masks, theatrical decor or Indian brasswork.
