Condition
Pre-owned vintage condition with surface wear, glaze variations, scuffs and areas of discoloration consistent with age and handmade studio pottery. There are lighter irregular areas throughout the exterior glaze, some of which appear inherent to the glaze while others may represent surface wear. Wear is also visible around the rim. No obvious major cracks or repairs observed. Four clear protective bumpers have been applied to the underside. Please review all photos closely.

Striking vintage studio art pottery vessel signed “JR” on the underside.
This handmade ceramic piece has a beautifully rounded, almost spherical form with a slightly narrowed opening. The exterior features a distinctive mottled blue-green/teal glaze with dense speckling and irregular lighter areas that give the surface considerable depth and character. The interior is finished in a contrasting very dark brown/black glaze.
The underside has a recessed foot and a hand-applied artist’s mark that appears to read “JR” with an underline. Despite additional research, I have not been able to confidently identify the potter, so the piece is being offered as signed studio pottery rather than attributed to a particular artist.
Its proportions make it suitable as a small planter/cachepot, decorative vessel or art pottery display piece.
