Up for sale is a vintage Realistic DX-150A Solid State Communications Receiver. This classic shortwave radio from the late 1960s/early 1970s features a gorgeous brushed aluminum face and classic analog dials.
Current Functionality & Test Results:
Please read carefully so you know exactly what you are purchasing. This unit has been basic-bench tested for functionality:
* Audio Output: Tested using the front panel 1/4" headphone jack, and built-in speaker. Audio is present and responsive.
* Reception: Successfully picked up local AM broadcast signals on Band A (tested around 1.41 MHz using a makeshift wire antenna). Static and background noise changes appropriately across the dials.
* S-Meter: The signal strength meter is operational and moves with tuning.
* Knobs & Dials: The dials turn smoothly.
* Known Minor Flaws: The ANL (Automatic Noise Limiter) switch is touchy/finicky. Wiggling or flipping it back and forth is occasionally required to maintain a steady signal path. Like most electronic gear of this era, the internal switches and pots would benefit from a standard cleaning with contact cleaner (such as DeoxIT) to clear up 50 years of tarnish.
Cosmetic Condition:
This is a good looking vintage unit with some wear on the front panel as well as on the back and sides. Take a look at the photos for details.
