You are looking at a rare and beautiful 1940\'s eraAmerican D5T dynamic omni-directional microphone made in Los Angeles, California complete with a period Astatic E6G detachable desk stand and short cable shown. This combination is quite stunning and the D5T has a classic \"bullet mic\" design that was quite popular at that particular time being very modern and somewhat deco in nature.
Pic # 2 shows this very model in an old America catalog along with a few other models of that time.
As you can see in pic # 3 it was featured with Gloria Jean who a very famous actress and singer from the 1930\'s through the 1950\'s and starred in over 20 films and T.V shows. I stumbled across this old pic of her with the D5T and the photo is marked 1936.
Pic # 4 shows Marilyn Monroe using one of these D5T\'s many years later. Probably in the 1950\'s.
This seldom seen microphone was produced as a general purpose mic and recommended for both indoor and outdoor applications. The D5T had a fairly long run much like the more common D4T microphone but was a bit more expensive so you tend to see far less of them around. The D5T is about 100% larger than the D4T. The D5T is built like a tank and has some weight to it. Impressive really.
It should be noted that this microphone (while non-working) is absolutely gorgeous and the nicest example I have ever come across. It even has the original American decal on the chrome. Virtually ever model I have seen has lost the decal due to years of wear.

As you can see the polished chrome housing has a very nice luster with just very lite wear in the form of fine scratches in the finish and some very fine pitting. No engravings or dents however. There is no missing hardware and the mic is solid inside and out. The mic no longer works of course but the original dynamic element is still inside. She\'ll make a very unique and beautiful display piece anywhere in the home, office or studio if you choose not to use it.
The joint mechanism works just as it should with plenty of tension. These D5T mics take an older female screw on type cable which is included.
The cable has the unique female 3 pin type connection and is properly wired in case you ever install a different element. The cable is just 12 inches long. It\'s soft, pliable and has the chunky older chrome plated female 1/4 inch end connector.

erfect for just about any older vintage microphone.The design is quite unique and makes a lite weight but very stable platform.
This stand has that classic deco look with a beautiful two tone paint scheme. The painted aluminum base has the screw off wooden handle / riser. It was very uncommon for musicians and broadcasters to hold a mic in their hand at that time so the handle simply screwed into the mic then the user could detach the handle from the base with a half twist allowing them to walk around with the mic attached to the handle. A very practical design.
The paint on both the handle and base is in very nice shape and the rubber
pads on the bottom are in excellent shape keeping the stand from scratching any surface it may rest on.Total dimensions with mic and stand are 9 1/2 inches high x 5 inches wide.This is going to make an incredible addition to your vintage mic collection and will make a great prop piece for any situation.
