Striking vintage Norwegian silver and amethyst pendant necklace featuring a large faceted purple amethyst set in a beautifully handmade sculptural silver mounting.
The pendant has a dramatic Art Deco-influenced design with sweeping silver ribs, curled openwork details, and an architectural fan-shaped silhouette. The amethyst is substantial and richly colored, with excellent presence on the neckline.
The piece is hallmarked with Norwegian silver marks including 830, indicating .830 fine silver. Additional maker’s marks are present but worn and have not been conclusively identified. The silver has also been acid tested and tests as silver.
The necklace includes its original handmade elongated-link silver chain, which complements the pendant beautifully and appears period appropriate.
