This is an authentic early 20th-century Japanese Nippon porcelain vase, hand painted and decorated with raised moriage florals over a black cartouche, set against a rich yellow ground with gilt accents. The form, decoration, and Nippon wreath mark date this piece squarely to the classic export period between 1891 and 1921. Elegant, sculptural, and highly decorative, this is a textbook example of why Nippon porcelain remains so collectible today.

PROVENANCE & HISTORY
Nippon porcelain was produced during a brief but highly regarded period when Japanese workshops focused on luxury decorative wares for Western buyers. Moriage decoration required skilled hand application and multiple firings, making these pieces more expensive to produce and more desirable to collectors. Yellow-ground Nippon vases with ornate handles are especially sought after due to their visual impact and lower survival rate compared to simpler forms. This piece reflects the craftsmanship, materials, and decorative ambition that defined Nippon porcelain at its peak.
