These are original late-1970s NOS Powerflex #9 urethane skateboard wheels (vintage/old-school), made in Huntington Beach, California.

Powerflex (founded ~1975 by Bob Ballou and his brothers) was an early urethane-wheel brand that stood out by offering multiple sizes and a wide range of colors at a time when most companies had limited options. Their lineup is most often described as the 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 models (the #5 was especially popular), though the embossed “6” on yours confirms this specific model existed.

Key details from the era and your photos

• Era: Mid-to-late 1970s (company wound down around the end of 1979 as the skate market collapsed).

• Construction: Poured urethane with the characteristic concentric rings/ridges on the face, deep bearing seat, and relatively wide contact patch typical of that period’s freestyle/pool/street wheels. They were among the early high-quality MDI urethane wheels.

• Markings: Clear “POWERFLEX” and “9”embossing (visible on both the orange and blue/light-blue examples).

• Colors: Mixed orange and blue (or light blue) was common—Powerflex leaned into colorful mixed sets rather than all-matching ones.

• Use: Versatile for the time—sidewalk, freestyle, pools, and early ditch/park riding. Soft-to-medium durometer for grip and a smoother ride over imperfect surfaces compared with harder later street wheels.

The brand was revived in 2015 (still based around Huntington Beach / California production) with modern reissues of the classic #5 and newer designs (Gumball cores, RockCandy cores, etc.), but the wheels in your photos are clearly the original vintage pours, not the modern reissues. unused or lightly used Powerflex wheels in this condition, color, and completeness. A mixed orange/blue #9 set in solid shape is a nice find for 1970s skate gear collectors. Condition details that matter most: flat spots, core wear, bearing seat integrity, and original surface finish.

In short: solid piece of 1970s skate history from one of the pioneer urethane brands that helped expand color and size choices.

Nice mixed set…grab them while you can. These are becoming rare and rare every day.
