Vintage mother of pearl powder compact. It features a square design with a geometric inlay pattern of abalone shell and mother of pearl.The Schildkraut Product Corporation, which was based on Fifth Avenue in New York City, was highly celebrated during the mid-20th century for its luxurious vanity accessories and clever mechanical designs.This specific style of mother of pearl brick-work design was prominently manufactured and popularized between the 1940s and 1950s.Schildkraut often relied on temporary foil mirror stickers (reading "Genuine Mother of Pearl by Schildkraut") or branded presentation pouches rather than stamping the metal case itself. Schildkraut features a high-quality beveled mirror (original present, but condition is worse than the rest of the compact) and a secure inner lid (excellent condition) and a specialized felt well seal to keep loose foundation powder from leaking out.
