Unusual old wood \"Tonkotsu\" tobacco box kimono accessory. Traditionally it is used to hang from a Japanese obi sash to hold tobacco or sometimes medicines or seals. Two decorative \"ojime\" beads at either end are threaded on an old leather cord. This box issometimes part of a kit known as \"inro\" that would also include a tobacco pipe and a netsuke figure hung from the same cord.The wood box is in very good condition, just over 4\" across, 1-1/2\" wide, and 2-1/2\" tall when fully closed. The box interior has a metal lining and shows evidence of tobacco and ashes.The leather cord is knotted in many places and needs restoration in order to perform as a toggle.
