Stunning, authentic 5-piece collection of vintage Japanese cabinet display plates dating to the mid-20th-century Shōwa period (circa 1950s–1960s).
This gorgeous thematic vignette set was produced in the Kutani regional style, showcasing a beautiful hybrid aesthetic that combines a traditional cream-colored Satsuma-style crackle-glaze body with vibrant Kutani iron-red borders and heavy, raised gold-gilt (kinranda) accents.
Rather than a single uniform motif, this set features three beautifully distinct, hand-painted natural and rural scenes of Japan designed to be displayed together.
This set was engineered in graduated sizes to allow for a dynamic, layered presentation inside a china cabinet, on plate stands, or arranged as a tiered gallery wall display:

The Bird & Floral Plates: Feature the official red-and-gold stamped regional marks including 九谷 (Kutani), 九谷造 (Kutani-Made), and 九谷山 (Kutani Mountain/Kiln), topped by the gold Shimazu family crest (⊕) traditionally associated with Satsuma-style wares.
The Watermill Landscape Plates: Feature the highly stylized seal script mark for the specific decorator studio, reading 山王 (Sannō / Yamaō).
