This Rolls reelwas most likely purchased thru Herter’s as they were the North AmericanDistributor for the J W Young Rolls branded fly reel.
The reel measures3 ½” in diameter and has a 2 ¼” long reel foot showing slight paint loss onboth tips from wear. The reel is in great working condition and comes spooledwith fly line and leader. I do not know the specifications of the fly line. Thereel weighs 7.75oz including the line. As you can see from the pics, the reelis in great cosmetic condition
I went to the JW Young website, and they noted that “a revolutionary clip-on line guardincorporating protection from friction by line may be fitted as an extra”. Ibelieve this reel is fitted with that same line guard.
