FROM A 154-PIECE ATTIC-FIND COLLECTION These stamps came from a larger 154-piece wax seal collection found boxed in my neighbor’s attic, where the collection had been stored for more than 20 years. They are older unused New Old Stock pieces from the same collection, not recently purchased craft-store stamps. EGYPTIAN SEMA TAWY DESIGN The design visually references the ancient Egyptian Sema Tawy, traditionally associated with the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. The motif is commonly represented with the symbolic plants of the Two Lands being bound together, and related ancient Egyptian imagery frequently depicts the Nile god Hapi / Hapy in connection with this symbolism.
