Beautiful vintage handmade patchwork quilt measuring approximately 79” x 72”. This is a wonderfully primitive, one-of-a-kind piece with a true make-do farmhouse/folk-art look.
The quilt features an eclectic mix of vintage fabrics in florals, stripes, polka dots and other prints, arranged in a large geometric/log-cabin-style patchwork design. It is hand tied throughout rather than traditionally quilt stitched.
One of the most interesting features is the backing, which was made using repurposed vintage cloth sacks. Visible printing includes Smith-Douglass Co., Norfolk, Virginia and Orangrow Tobacco Fertilizer, 200 lbs. net, giving the quilt wonderful agricultural and Americana character.
Measures approximately 79” x 72”, making it suitable for use as a large throw/lap quilt or approximately twin-size bedding depending on desired coverage. It would also make a beautiful display piece for a farmhouse, cottage, primitive or textile collection.
Vintage condition with age-related wear. There are stains/discoloration and other signs of use and age, particularly on the sack-cloth backing. Fabrics, seams, ties and edges may show wear consistent with an older handmade textile. Please review all photos carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.
