The mask features deeply incised geometric detailing across the upper portion of the face with sculpted facial features and a tapered shape. The slight variations in the carving and finish give the pendant a wonderful handcrafted character.
The black material appears to be a dense carved natural material, possibly ebony or another dark hardwood. Similar African mask pendants were also made from horn; because this piece is unsigned and has not been professionally tested, the exact material and geographic origin are not guaranteed.
