This vintage French oil painting on board captures a tranquil pastoral river scene with two white swans swimming near the foreground, a figure standing upon a rustic wooden footbridge, and rolling green hills leading to a cottage in the distance.
Sourced in the South of France and dating to circa the 1920s–1940s, the work is painted in soft, impressionistic strokes with river greens, soft blues, and warm earth tones. Signed in the lower right corner ("Fillon" / "Villon").
Housed in an identical matching period giltwood and molded gesso frame featuring rope-twist and beaded detailing. The frame displays authentic wear, chipped gesso along the corners, and historic touch-ups. The reverse retains its period cord hanger.
