SUPER RARE FRANKLIN FUTURE CHAMPS ELECTRONIC TABLE TOP ICE HOCKEY – COMPLETE – WORKING!
Here is another one you simply do not see very often. Most collectors who recognize this style of motorized hockey game know the much more common Radio Shack Ice Hockey version. This one is the far scarcer Franklin Future Champs Table Top Ice Hockey Game—and finding one this complete and actually working is a serious collector find.
This is not just a static tabletop hockey game. Inside are electric motors that actually move the players up and down the rink, creating fast mechanical hockey action while each side uses the controls to battle for the puck. It is one of those wonderfully over-engineered vintage games from the era when manufacturers were trying to bring arcade-like action into the home.
And this one WORKS.
That alone matters because these old motorized games are notorious for failing after decades. Gears, motors, contacts, switches and moving player mechanisms all have to cooperate for the game to function properly.
Even better, this example still has the extra players, multiple pucks and accessories shown in the photos, along with the original Franklin box. The side storage areas are still loaded with the additional pieces, which is something you almost never see on loose examples.
The box does show age, edge wear and handling from storage, so please study the photos carefully. The game itself presents very nicely for its age and has been tested working.
If you collect Franklin electronic games, Radio Shack electronic games, vintage tabletop sports games, mechanical games or unusual electronic toys, this is the version you want.
The Radio Shack version turns up.
The Franklin version does not.
Complete, working examples are even harder.
This is a fantastic piece of vintage electronic sports-game history and a very difficult one to replace once it is gone.
