Beautiful Vintage Chinese Export Porcelain Figurine – Republic Era / Mid-20th Century
Up for your consideration is a lovely crackle-glaze porcelain figurine depicting a traditional Chinese female deity, likely Guan Yin (the Goddess of Mercy), elegantly draped in classical robes while cradling a golden-hued ruyi scepter.
This beautiful statue features a prominent "Ge Ware" style monochrome crackle glaze, adding wonderful texture and historical character to the porcelain surface. The figure's hair is neatly styled into an elegant updo adorned with subtle blue and white glazed hairpins.
Markings & Identification:
The unglazed biscuit base features important diagnostic marks for authentication and dating:
- An incised workshop/kiln master mark reading "天" (Tian / Heaven) on the right corner.
- A clear, impressed block-letter "CHINA" export mark centered on the lower rim, standard for early-to-mid 20th-century Western trade.
- Original production ink brush strokes adjacent to the central firing vent hole.
This antique/vintage item is in excellent vintage condition with no major chips, structural cracks, or modern restorations detected. The heavy crackle or crazing pattern is uniform and intentional, characteristic of this classic ceramic style.
