Original vintage Buffalo smoking tobacco cloth pouch manufactured by Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co., Durham, North Carolina.This is a very nice surviving example that still retains several original components that are often missing from these early tobacco pouches, including:* Original Buffalo High Quality Smoking Tobacco front label with buffalo graphic
* Original cloth tobacco pouch
* Yellow drawstring
* Original oval Liggett & Myers advertising tag reading “You Can Depend on a Liggett & Myers Product”
* Portion of the original blue federal tobacco tax stamp
* Original Wheat Straw rolling-paper packet/holder on the reverse
* Original black Liggett & Myers wrapper/label materialThe blue tax stamp appears consistent with the Series 104 stamps found on surviving Buffalo pouches from this period. Buffalo is considered one of the less commonly encountered Liggett & Myers tobacco brands.Estimated period: 1930s / approximately mid-1930s.This pouch is empty and is being sold strictly as a vintage advertising/tobacciana collectible.Condition is shown clearly in the photographs. The paper labels and tax stamp have age-related tearing, losses, wrinkles and wear. The cloth pouch has discoloration and general age wear. The drawstring and original advertising tag remain present. The Wheat Straw rolling-paper wrapper is also still attached.
