This is a beautiful heavy vintage female bust sculpture of Angelica Maria, mounted on a black marble base, measuring approximately 9.5” tall x 5” wide.
This bust named Angelica Maria is in homage to the painting of Madonna by Fra Filippo Lippi. It is said that he convinced a convent to allow him to paint a novice nun as the Holy Mother, then persuaded her to run away with him to the shame of her family and her order.
She appears to be bronze or bronzed cast metal, mounted on a round black marble base.
It’s very heavy and I haven’t tested it but it appears to be bronze.

Excellent vintage condition with no chips to the marble base. Some normal signs of age.
The underside is lined in a black velvet material.
