Sometimes, when selling antique items from an estate, you take your best guess about an items history. That's what I'll do.Appears to be older, maybe late 1800's to early 1900's. Metal plaque is yellow metal, like brass or bronze or some such thing. Lovely patina of age, some scratches and wear but nothing distracting.The style seems Art Nouveau to me. Upon magnification, my 70 year old eyes can see winter trees in the background. A woman and a child are wrapped loosely in gauzy material which blows in the wind. They appear to be warming themselves on either side of a fire.
What does it all mean? I have no clue, but it's beautiful.This is a nice piece that feels solid and substantial in the hand. Nothing broken or repaired. Looks French or Belgian to me, but much of the Euro stuff of this era crosses over.
Measures 3.75" tall including the little hanging tab.Thanks, guys.
