PLEASE NOTE: The indigo on this piece is still newer and still rubbing off. The color is absolutely stunning! But, be aware that natural indigo dye does rub off for a period time but does eventually diminish. Meaning, don't put it on your white couch right away. Indigo dye can be rinsed with water/vinegar to help it set further.
Vintage African Indigo Mudcloth from Mali, approximately 20-30 years old.
These are essentially manually made from start to finish using cotton fabric hand spun from Mali and dyed by hand. Strips of cloth are then hand woven together to make the larger piece.
Sadly, in recent years, mud cloth has been copied by factories in China and India, threatening a centuries old tradition.
Mudcloth makes a unique styling element for your home, photo studio, wall art etc. Being a handmade process, each piece of fabric is very unique, no two are alike and may contain signs of use or wear being vintage. The weight on this is light to medium.
