This is the kind of piece that stops people when they walk into a room. A firefighter on one knee, child gathered in his arms, hydrant and hose at his side — Vanmark’s 1997 Red Hats of Courage figurine titled “Hero.”
It is limited edition number 4/521, item FM88001, copyright 1997 Vanmark and handcrafted in China. The details are what collectors like about this series: the yellow stripes on the coat, the red helmet, the coiled hose, the nozzle on the rubble, and the painted tear on the child’s face. The oval base has the original felt pads underneath.
This is a used display piece, about 29 years old. There is light surface wear from handling and shelf time, plus a small sticker residue mark on the underside of the base. No box. The figurine itself is complete and stands well.
