This vintage plush gnome was made in 1979 by The Toy Works, produced under license from Unieboek — the original Dutch publisher of the bestselling \"Gnomes\" book by Wil Huygen, illustrated by Rien Poortvliet. That book was a massive international hit in the late 1970s and later inspired the beloved \"David the Gnome\" animated series.
This plush figure is shaped as a stuffed cone-form gnome standing on a printed tree-stump base, fully illustrated front and back in the same detailed watercolor style as the original book artwork.
Still attached: the original hangtag, \"Little Gnome Facts,\" adapted from the Abrams book Gnomes, illustrated by Rien Poortvliet, text by Wil Huygen, © 1978 Uniboek BV — a lovely bit of documentation that ties this piece directly back to its licensed origins and adds real value for collectors.
