This seldom seen vintage 1970\'s Wyler Lifeguard Alarm has under the heavily scratched crystal a near pristine silver \"T SWISS T\" signed sunburst dial.The original lume on the gold colored hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The gold colored bezel rotates smoothly offerirectionally. The black insert, which shows wear, presents nicely with the inverted triangle lume complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel monocoquecase shows honest wear and minor signs of oxidation. The inner edge of the case back is stamped \"WYLER LIFEGUARD BASE METAL RING DURACLAD 3300-1162 D\" with \"STAINLESS STEEL CASE\" stamped along the outer edge.The crystal ring is gold colored, matching the hands and bezel. The acrylic crystal should be replaced.

While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale I\'m unable to do so with this particular watch as it\'s accessed through the crystal. After recently winding the bottom non-screwdown, signed crown 23 full revolutions the manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function kept accurate time over an approximate 40 hour power reserve period with the date wheel rolling over at 12 am. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. The top non-screwdown, signed crown controls the alarm. Winding it generates the alarm\'s power reserve. Pulling it out and then turning it counterclockwise allows the alarm hand to be set to the desired time. When the crown is left in the pulled out position the alarm is activated. When it\'s pushed back in it is deactivated. Both the top and bottom crowns wind and set smoothly. Given that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.

Using only a ruler this watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 40 mm.

A complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
