Up for sale is a beautiful mid-century modern vintage Italian art glass wine/liqueur decanter, complete with its original matching molded crown stopper. Produced in the historic Empoli region of Italy, this sculptural bottle features deep melon-paneled vertical fluting accented by smooth oval panels on the front and back. It is finished in a vibrant, opaque sky blue. Condition: Good vintage condition. There are absolutely NO post-factory cracks, chips, breaks, or repairs to the bottle or the stopper stem. True to Italian export art glass of this era, the piece is physically unmarked on the base as it originally featured a paper label.Please note the following minor cosmetic and production details (visible in the close-up photos):
- Factory Character: There is a small, smooth open glass bubble (burst blister) on the inner lip rim from production. There are also a few tiny, microscopic silver kiln sparks permanently embedded inside the glass of the stopper plug from the mid-century manufacturing process. Both are completely smooth to the touch.
- Cosmetic Signs of Age: A few light, faint gray surface scuff marks on the exterior glass that do not wash away, and one minor, small surface scratch on the lower portion of one of the fluted panels. Dimensions:
