Crafted in a soft, luxurious cream mohair knit with cable-knit detailing and a contrasting brown-and-cream patterned collar, it features a full original set of metal buttons from the 1960 Winter Olympic Games held in Squaw Valley, California, USA.
Each button is embossed with:
🐺 The Lupa Capitolina (Roman she-wolf) — a mythological symbol of ancient Rome, representing the legend of Romulus and Remus.
🏛 A stylized bell tower motif, inspired by Cortina d’Ampezzo’s 1956 Games (Italian design influence).
🕊 The Olympic rings.
🗓 The Roman numerals “MCMLX” (1960).
This she-wolf motif is one of the less common button variations used at Squaw Valley and reflects the artistic and cultural cross-influence between the Italian 1956 Games and the American 1960 Games.
