Vintage Smithwick Devil’s Horse Wooden Fishing Lure – Early 1950s
Exceptional vintage Smithwick wooden Devels Horse/Devil Horse fishing lure measuring approximately 4½ inches.
This is a beautiful example with an extremely clean, original-looking finish. The lure features:
* Original wooden body
* Green scale finish with silver sides
* Dark green back
* Orange/red nose and throat
* Distinctive yellow-and-black painted eyes
* Two original metal propellers
* Three treble hooks
* Original heavy-style hook hanger hardware
* Two distinctive black dots on the underside near the rear
* Approximately 4½” long
The heavy hook-hanger style is associated with early Smithwick production, generally dating to approximately 1951–1955. Smithwick’s collector documentation also notes that the Devels Horse name was used during this early period.
The lure appears to be in exceptionally clean condition for its age, with very little apparent wear. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are part of the description.
