Vintage 1950s Napier Gold Tone Furled Leaf Collar Necklace Signed 15.Vintage Signed NAPIER Gold-Tone Dimensional Leaf Collar Necklace – Mid-Century 1950sBeautiful and highly sculptural vintage Napier collar necklace featuring a continuous series of dimensional, hand-formed leaf or petal-shaped links in warm gold tone.Each link has a finely textured, almost frosted or crosshatched surface and has been shaped into a graceful three-dimensional fold. Small polished gold-tone spherical beads separate the individual elements, allowing the necklace to articulate and drape naturally around the neckline.This necklace has the elegant combination of matte/frosted texture and polished accents for which some of Napier’s important mid-century metalwork is known.The necklace is clearly signed NAPIER on the hook clasp.Of particular interest to collectors, Napier historian Melinda Lewis documents a 1957 Napier “Frosted Leaves” necklace employing closely related gilt die-stamped, hand-manipulated furled leaves along with a hook-and-chain closure terminating in a polished sphere. This necklace has a different arrangement and greater number of leaf elements, so I am not representing it as that exact documented model, but the construction and design vocabulary are strongly related to Napier’s mid-century leaf jewelry.
