How could one not feel exceptional, in this angelic gown from the 1930\'s?
This spectacular piece is made of a cool-to-the-touch, medium weight, swishy, mostly opaque silk knit fabric, in soft ivory color. This late 1930\'s gem has draped details, as well as decorative smocking at center front bodice, lower hips, and side sleeves. The shoulder seams are gathered, to give more volume, and the sleeves echo this sentiment, with voluminous gathering, for more shoulder accentuation. The smocking at center front bodice also adds drape, which graduates to a waist-less middle section, which then becomes the smocking that sits at lower hip level, to a flowing skirt (please note that my dress form/mannequin does have an awkwardly short torso, and is not doing this dress justice, I am working on finding a human model, to show how this dress is really supposed to sit on the body). The half-length sleeves also feature gathers at inseam. The center back features an incredible 28-button closure! The original buttons were in rough shape, so I decided to replace them with something a little more special -to match the specialness of this dress, I added cut glass (or possibly crystal) clear buttons which have the loveliest glisten in the light. The dress originally had 30 buttons but I did have to shorten the center back seam, because the bottom button section was so worn out, the fabric was half-frayed. No lining or shoulder pads (might benefit from shoulder padding and should only be stored on a padded hanger). I also should note this dress was washed five times, repairs have been made, and seams have been strengthened throughout -shopping at Miss Master\'s Closet, you get pieces that are fully rehabbed to my best ability, and ready to wear! Other condition issues include light wear throughout, a light brown stain at front skirt at hem (which may disappear into a hem), small darn repairs to knit all over, and the afore mentioned alterations to center back seam. No label or maker\'s marks present. Please review photographs for all details.
