This is an incredible necklace. This Victorian Beauty is a two part black french jet and white milk glass cameo prong set in a sterling silver cast garland leaf and bow sterling silver setting. The reverse side has a hidden hair locket, in which one would place a lock of hair from a loved one living far away, in battle or deceased so they could keep a piece of them close to the heart. This could also hold a photo or trinket. The sterling silver was at one time plated in rhodium, but it has since mostly worn off, except for the back and inside of the locket. It's a really special and unique form of Victorian jewelry that has phased out, much like the perfume purses and hair combs. A wonderful piece of history, and it's hung on a really nice interwoven chain with a secure box clasp, original to the piece.
