VTG EXC Sana-Fount Glass Chicken Waterer Poultry Fountain Anderson Box 540 Farm
For your consideration is this vintage Sana-Fount poultry fountain or chicken waterer, made by the Anderson Box Company in the 1940’s. This is a gravity fed device that allows water to flow from the reservoir to the tray below, allowing the animals to have a constant supply of water. As the chickens drink from the tray, the water level recedes which allows air to enter the container holding the water reserve, which permits more water to flow out and fill the tray again until the water level covers the exit hole.
This particular waterer consists of 2 pieces, the reservoir globe and the base. Both are in excellent condition for age. There are some surface scratches on the exterior of the globe, as seen in the photos. There is also a very small chip on the inside of the rim. The base appears to be in excellent condition with no chips or cracks noted. The reservoir globe measures 9” wide x 7” tall, and the bottom tray measures 9” in diameter x 2” tall. Would make a neat rustic display piece, or could be used on your farm!
