VINTAGE John Checkley Original Painting Pair MCM San Francisco Trolley Cable Car For Sale

Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible matched pair of original mid-century modern oil/acrylic paintings by listed California artist John Checkley (1922–1991). This perfectly paired diptych showcases Checkley’s celebrated impressionistic palette-knife work, capturing the atmospheric essence of vintage San Francisco with its historic architecture, classic street lamps, and iconic green-and-yellow cable cars.Both pieces are signed in Checkley's distinct cursive script in the lower right corner. The reverse side of the panels retains their original vintage Tara Canvas Panel manufacturer stamps along with a handwritten historical catalog/gallery inventory tracking code (H4912), offering fantastic historical provenance. These are the original matted frames which show normal age wear. They have been in storage for years and need a good cleaning. I also have listed a third painting by a different artist that was with these two. They measure approximately 10 1/2” x 12 1/2” and 10 3/4” x 12 3/4”.
