Tetradrachm of large size belonging to the famous Roman-Alexandrian series minted exclusively in its 4th (224-225 AD) and 7th years ( 226-227 AD), in Alexandria by roman engravers or in Rome always by roman engravers: the matter is still open but it were issued coins of exceptional style and easily recognisable since they are very different from those tipically Egyptian -Alexandrian. In this excellent specimen we admire on the obverse the laureate bust of Alexander Severus and on the reverse, the draped one of his mother Julia Mamaea. See STAFFIERI, G.
