The U.S. MIA2-I-I Noncombatant Gas Mask is a World War II-era civilian protective mask produced by the Office of Civilian Defense (OCD).Overview and Design
- Purpose: Designed by Randolph Monro in 1942 for civil defense workers and civilians in U.S. "target areas" (especially coastal cities anticipating chemical attacks).
- Production: Funded by a $29,000,000 OCD grant and built for simple, rapid mass-production using rubberized fabric or thin hard rubber.
- Features: Included celluloid/plastic glued-in eyepieces, an elastic six-point head harness, an exhale valve (M8 or C8), and an aluminum-cased filter containing activated carbon and Type A whetlerite.
Condition
The Gas Mask is in good condition with minor wear from it's age and the pouch has a little wear and marks on it. There is also a crack in the left yellow eye lens as seen in the photos.
