Truly Vintage 1992 Tamiya 1/10 SUPER BLACKFOOT 58110 Decal Sticker Sheet 9495144:
$85.00

100% Original, Authentic, and Rare due to it being a period-correct decal sheet; not a reproduction or re-release.
What you see is exactly what you get.
This decal sheet still has the original plastic sleeve / bag it originally came. Only removed once in 30+ years to take these photos.
I purchased this decal sheet back in the 90\'s as a spare set thinking that I would eventually restore my RC car that saw some seriously fun use outside, but never did. Open to offers.

The differences between an original decal sheet and reproduction / re-release sheets come down to two primary things: licensing changes and manufacturing methods.Wondering what sets them apart and why this sale is listed at a higher price than the others?1. Logo and Sponsor Swaps (and why it became necessary)
  • The most glaring difference is the change in real-world automotive sponsor logos. In 1986, Tamiya liberally included real-world aftermarket brands on their decal sheets. By 2015, corporate branding laws and licensing fees forced Tamiya to alter or entirely fake these logos.
2. Print Quality and Crispness
  • Original 1986 Sheets: Tamiya used a high-end, traditional screen-printing process. This resulted in incredibly crisp, sharp lettering edges and solid, opaque color blocks that didn\'t let the dark red plastic of the body bleed through. The window tints on original sheets were also cleanly translucent.
  • Aftermarket Reproductions: Most modern aftermarket reproductions are printed via high-end laser or digital inkjet printers onto polymeric vinyl. If you look closely at the text or small logos under a magnifying glass, reproduction sheets will often show subtle pixelation or jagged edges. Additionally, fake window decals are usually printed solid black instead of a translucent tint.
How to Spot the Difference on the SheetIf you are holding a loose sheet and trying to verify its age, look at the very bottom edge. Original sheets will have the vintage item code and/or date printed cleanly in a distinct Tamiya font, alongside a copyright date. Modern sheets alter or append with \"2015\" or whenever the release date was. Vintage backing paper might also naturally age to a slightly off-white or yellowed hue over 30 to 40 years, whereas repros sit on bright white, modern backing vinyl. However, this item is still minty fresh and in perfect condition.It\'s worth spending the extra money for an original decal sheet for your project - especially if you\'re restoring or building a kit for display, or if you just want a period-correct, authentic look as Tamiya originally designed.
