The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, published in 1900, was a milestone in the Golden Age of Children\'s literature, both for its wondrous story and lavish production, combining a great author, L. Frank Baum, with a great illustrator, W.W. Denslow. This limited edition facsimile, signed by the author\'s great-grandson, Robert Baum, illustrates the great artistry of the creators and the investment in the production. Have a look at the photos. There are 24 color plates and 132 in-text illustrations printed in two colors combinations.These colors are coordinated with the story, for instance, beige for dull Kansas and green for the marvelous land of Oz. Baum and Denslow quarreled, so this original Oz book is the only one with Denslow illustrations. Nothing of this quality is produced for children today.
